Celebrating best ever SATs results

There have been celebrations all round at our school which has received its best ever results in this year’s SATs tests.

Staff, pupils and families all were all delighted to receive the news that the results reflected the hard work put in by everyone connected with Year 6.

“I am immensely proud of our Year 6 children; the resilience and determination with which they approached their tests was incredibly impressive and the children have excelled themselves. Huge thanks goes to the teachers and support staff for their relentless drive to improve outcomes for our children and our school,” said executive headteacher Claire-Louise West.

Cordwalles Junior School is a member of the multi-academy GLF Trust and benefits from sharing outstanding resources across a range of schools. It is a two form entry school for children aged from seven to 11-years-old.

The End of Key Stage 2 assessments, previously known as SATs, were taken during the week beginning May 14. The children attended early each morning for a special breakfast before taking their tests.

The school scored particularly well in maths, recording 87 per cent against a national average of 76 per cent. English reading was ahead of the average at 80 per cent (75 per cent nationally) and spot-on the national average with 78 per cent for grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Nationally 64 per cent of pupils achieved the government’s ‘expected standard’ in reading, writing and maths - up on last year’s 61 per cent. Cordwalles Junior School achieved 67 per cent.
