Great start as we receive a top science award.

The new school year has got off to a fantastic start here as we have been awarded a Primary Science Quality Mark.

Each school receiving the award must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning and it enables schools to work together and share good practice within the subject.

We are so proud that the quality of our science provision and leadership has been recognised at this level and that Cordwalles has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark.

We are committed to providing the best curriculum that we can for our children and this is a fitting recognition for our teachers and leaders.

We are a member of the multi-academy GLF Trust which hosts its own science fair each year where more than 400 pupils take part in a huge range of creative projects designed to reinforce the subject outside the classroom.

The quality mark programme offers professional development led by local experts and offers a clear framework for development in science subject leadership. It is led by the University of Hertfordshire School of Education in collaboration with the Primary Science Teaching Trust.

“Gaining a quality mark is a significant achievement for a school. The profile and quality of science teaching and learning in each awarded school is very high. Children are engaging with science both in and outside the classroom, developing positive attitudes towards science,” said Jane Turner, national director of the PSQM.

“Science subject leaders, their colleagues, head teachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud,” she added.
