Beech Class

Beech Class is thoroughly enjoying learning all about Australia and being able to compare the country to their own. We began our topic by being escorted onto a convict ship by Australian BushRangers. Once we had been given our transportation papers, we began to row to Australia. We have written our own recounts of the journey. In Art, we have been designing Australian animal road signs and, more recently, scenes of devastation whilst looking at Australian Bushfires. In some of our takeaway tasks, the children have created Aboriginal designs like the images below.

This half term, we are taking our science lessons outside to see whether we can recognise positive and negative changes to the local environment and record our findings. Will we discover any dangers to the animals’ habitats?

Please remember that children need their PE kits in school at the start of the week. Many children are forgetting these and it is not a great start to the working week. Our PE slot is on a Wednesday and Gugafit is on a Thursday.

Please ensure that children are practising spelling and times tables to support their in school focus. Children must also read for at least 5 minutes every night and ensure their reading record is SIGNED by an adult and brought into school the next morning. Our Library slot is still on a Wednesday afternoon, so please ensure that library books are in school ready to exchange.

If there are any concerns regarding homework or any other matters please do not hesitate to speak to me regarding this, I am very flexible and approachable. If you would like a longer consultation I am happy to make an appointment for you to see me.
