Oak Class

Year 4

Our safari jeeps have transported us into the African country of Kenya! During out stunning start, we went on a safari, made Kenyan style pancakes and created beautiful African sunsets with animal silhouettes.

During our 'Jambo Kenya' topic, children can expect to explore Kenyan landscapes, life of the Maasai tribe and what daily life is like in Kenya. We look forward to making our own African tribal masks, fundraising to protect the rhinos and creating our own nature documentary using iMovie.

Our English this term will be focused on nature documentaries and African folktales. Children will research, write and narrate their own documentary for an animal in the 'Big 5'. We will then look at African folktales and their main themes.

In our maths lessons, we are starting to learn written methods for multiplication and division, as well as consolidating skills learnt in the autumn term. Please continue to practice times tables at home- all children have a log in for 'Times Table Rockstars'.

PE kits need to be in school during the week, as our PE lessons are on Wednesday and Friday. Reading records need to be signed each night and handed into class in the morning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to arrange an appointment to meet with us.
