Welcome to Year 5!

Our topic for this term is the world at war.  We have been looking at WW2 and how civilians’ lives were effected.  We created our own Anderson shelters and have explored rationing by baking a carrot cake.  During our stunning start, we looked at evacuees and created our own evacuee suitcase.  We also took cover from an air raid siren.  We have enjoyed learning about WW2.  Later on this term, we will be focusing more on WW1!

In our Maths learning, we are focusing number and place value.  Please continue to practise times tables at home whenever possible - all children have a log in for 'Times Table Rockstars', which they are familiar with from school.

During our English lessons, we will be writing a newspaper report.  If you require a SeeSaw bar code to view your child's, please speak to me.

In Science, we are learning about life cycles.

PE kits need to be in school during the week, as our Gugafit lessons are on Monday and PE lesson are on Thursday.

Reading records need to be signed each night and handed into class in the morning.  Homework will be handed out on a Monday and due back on Friday.

Our class assembly will be on the 12th of March.  Letters with further information will be sent out nearer the dates.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to arrange an appointment to meet with me.
