5V Mr van Vuuren/Mrs Hardy

Wow, what a brilliant start to the new school year!

On our first day back, we immersed ourselves in World War 2! The children followed the routine of evacuees which required of them to ‘pack their suitcases’, complete their name tags, make gas masks and going on a ‘train journey’ to ultimately be picked one-by-one at their end destination.

In this first half term, we are looking at place value; mental addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; identifying and classifying shapes according to their properties and finding fractions of numbers.

In English we are focussing on setting descriptions and diary entries with the main focus on World War 2. Our science this term looks at Materials and their properties.

Most parents will know this, but this year myself and Mrs Newhall are the teachers for 5V. Mrs Newhall will teach the class on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

It looks to be a promising year with all the enthusiasm we have seen so far!

Please note that 5V’s parent consultation will take place on:

  • TUESDAY 9th October and
  • WEDNESDAY 10th October.

This is different from the other classes due to Mrs Newhall’s other commitments.

I look forward to meeting you all at parent’s consultations.

If you have any questions or concerns, please come and see me at the end of the school day.
